Video CD has taken off - : Philips can't make DB carts fast enough. All the majors are bringing out : Video CD players for the living room. It's going to be very big IMHO. ^^^^^--Thats the key word here. I don't know about the market where you are, but here in the Bay Area of Ca I have only seen 1 store that sells VideoCDs, and they had all of 3 disks in the store. I've seen games for the Phullips player, but no movies. If VideoCD can developed a software base, I agree it will be big. Right now, it's not worth worrying about when you decide to buy a PC. : The issue is about the installed based of MPC CD-ROM drives and whether : they can cut it.The evidence suggests that the present drives, despite : being billed as Mode 2, Form 2, just cannot deliver a smooth MPEG stream. : It's a firmware problem so far as I can gather. I agree, but then I think the idea of video CD's on a PC is not the future. Full motion video via a t1 (or similar) home connection is. (And it may just be your power company, and not cable/telco that does it). At any rate, these next few years will bring better and neater toys than we can begin to imagine. And the only safe bet is that all predictions made today will be wrong. Jim
