GUS MAX CD3 and Panasonic CD-ROM Followup-To: poster Date: 31 Jul 1994 11:09:09 +0300 Organization: Clinet Public Access Unix, Espoo, Finland Lines: 23 Message-ID: <31fm75$8n6@clinet.fi> NNTP-Posting-Host: clinet.fi Xref: cdrom.com alt.cd-rom:7525 comp.sys.ibm.pc.soundcard.gus:5 I'm having trouble getting my new GUS MAX CD3 work with Panasonic CR-562-B CD-ROM drive. If I load ULTRINIT.EXE in my startup, MSCDEX.EXE waits for a while and detects the drive, but if I try to access the drive later, the connection fails. Also, if the GUS plays a sound, the CD-ROM drive spins. However, if I remove ULTRINIT.EXE, the drive works fine. It seems that the problem is in the UltraSound initialization. I've checked for any DMA/IRQ conflicts and tried every single possible setup configuration too, but I haven't found anything. I have a SoundBlaster Pro installed as well (I don't have parity check in my CMOS, so I'm using it instead of SBOS) and the CD-ROM drive works fine with it. Here's my current configuration: SoundBlaster Pro: Base 220, IRQ 5, DMA 1 Gravis UltraSound MAX: Base 240, IRQ 11, DMA 3, CD-ROM 340 Now the big question: Is there a way to make the CD-ROM work with GUS or should I plug it back to SBPro? Thanks in advance for any help! Harri Ikonen hikonen@clinet.fi
