Hello,

We are currently trying to create a CDROM that can be read by UNIX and
DOS machines. However, we wish to have directories that take full
advantage of the unix file naming system (e.g. symbolic links, long
file names, .????? names etc).

Our only hope seems to lie in the Rockridge extensions for ISO9660:1988
which would seem to allow us to do exactly what we want (well nearly). 
The CDROM is written with DOS file names etc. and the UNIX machines read
the UNIX names via the Rockridge extensions.

But, how do we create the necessary extensions. After inspection of a
LINUX distribution disk we discovered that the following file occured in
each directory (called YMTRANS.TBL)

e,g. 

D BMP                                  bmp
D GIF                                  gif
D JPG                                  jpg
D TARGA                                targa
F _XVPICS:1                             .xvpics

So the question is do we simply need to create one of these files in
each of the directories on the CDROM, in order to achieve our aims?
