Myst worked fine for me, too.  One of the easiest installs I'd done,
up to that point.  I have a relatively new PC with a new soundcard
(and probably more up-to-date drivers than others).

A friend of mine, with an older machine, did have problems.  No sound
at all.  Turns out he never had the windows sound drivers.  All his
previous games played from DOS just fine, so he never new.

I think the perception that very few people have gotten Myst to work
is fueled by the "squeaky wheel" axiom.  Only those experiencing problems
with the game will ask for help.
